Love Covers a Multitude of Sin
Commentary, Unconditional Love December 27th, 2007 1 Peter 4:8
Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.
For a long time, I interpretted 1 Peter 4:8 as my love for others covers a multitude of their sins. While this is certainly true, a few weeks ago I realized that my love for other covers a multitude of my own sins.
The interesting thing is that a relationship of unconditional love is the only environment where we actually have the freedom to expose our sins that we may be set free from them.

John3:16 Also note that God is the complete expression of love. Love for man caused God to send his son to die for our sins. Isaiah53:5 He was wounded for our transgressions and bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him… Love caused Christ to die for us to cover our sins, Love covered all our sins. Since God is love- if we born again believers do not love, how can our sins be forgiven us? 1John4:7-15 Love made us free from the law!
